Review ACORN on Trip Advisor    Review ACORN on Yelp

From the San Francisco Chronicle's The Press:

While there are many wineries geared toward the quick tasting at the bar, these wineries are for those interested in taking their time and learning more about wine. You’ll walk away feeling a little bit more confident in wine production, how to taste and how to buy.

ACORN: Expect an intimate but informal experience. You’ll learn a lot about red wines because that’s their focus. The two standouts here are the Cabernet Franc and Dolcetto, which are both sophisticated with juicy notes of black plum, violets and earthiness. Also be sure to try the Medley blend. It expresses a broad spectrum of aromatic flavor that’s intricate and uses pretty much every grape on the property — Syrah, Cinsaut, Sangiovese, Viognier and Alicante Bouschet. If you’re interested in learning about pairing food and wine, they host events on a regular basis. — Julie Albin

Reviews from ACORN visitors:

This is a must do! Wines are excellent, but that's only part of the reason to go. The one-on-one attention you get at ACORN makes this one of the best winery visits you will ever have. Appointments are necessary—and worth it. We visited the winery with our daughter for her 21st birthday trip. Betsy spent over an hour and a half with us, explaining their wines and their winery. Just us. Not us and a dozen others in the tasting room. The personalized attention is worth the visit. Oh, and the wines are really, really, good!

A HIDDEN GEM !!!… The wines AND the proprietors were just amazing. Do not be turned off by the fact that you have make an appointment, the private tasting and intimate setting are so so worth it. Betsy and her husband were so welcoming and the wines are just show-stoppers. I figured I'd like one or two....wrong....good, better, best, even better than best!…I just can't say enough great things about this winery. If you like big reds, small lots, and a truly hand crafted experience, you will not be disappointed. We WILL be back.

If you want a close-to-the-earth tasting, the best place we have been to is ACORN. Call for a tasting, and be ready for an amazing assortment of wines from the widest variety of grapes we have experienced in Sonoma. Bill is the grower and vintner, and Betsy is the wonderful tasting room guide. Together they will share with you wines you recognize, and many that will be new for you. Bill loves to field blend. Some of our favorites are these field blends of the fruits of some very special varietals. Make sure you have them show you the aerial view of their vineyards, and you can see just how many different grapes are grown and masterfully blended, uniquely each year. You will be back again if you go once. So call for a tasting!

Just had the pleasure yesterday of tasting ACORN's wine. Exceptional. The experience was also fabulous...very educational and personal. Make an appointment and get away from the crowded tasting rooms. Betsy and Bill are great to talk to.
