2009 Rosato Alegría Vineyards
The alluring combination of beautiful light garnet color and crisp inviting aromas of ripe strawberry, rose petal, and honeydew melon tempt you to sip. Tantalizing flavors of fresh cherry, mixed berry, and watermelon with a touch of citrus in a creamy texture provide a delicious and refreshing tasting experience that won’t disappoint.
Our 2009 Rosato was made in two lots. We picked and crushed a carefully selected combination of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese on October 5. After cold soaking overnight, we pressed the juice to barrels for fermentation, using Simi and Cross Evolution yeasts. Then on October 20, we picked and crushed grapes from our 13-year-old Zinfandel block that includes the same mixed varieties that are planted in our old heritage vineyard. Again, after cold soaking overnight, we pressed the grapes and inoculated them with Cross Evolution yeast. After fermentation was complete, we blended the two lots.
Aging in seasoned French and American barrels for five months allowed the fruit flavors to develop and marry together. The result is a refreshing, vibrant, and fruit-driven rosé.
