The beautiful light crimson color and soft aromas of freshly sliced strawberries and pear invite you to sip this delicious rosé. This perfectly balanced wine has crisp yet delicate flavors of Queen Anne cherries, watermelon, guava, and strawberry.
To have a fun, flavorful wine to enjoy chilled on hot summer days, we decided to make a rosato (Italian for rosé). Our Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc have such wonderful fruit aromas and flavor, we decided to use a blend of the two. After crushing the grapes, and before the juice picked up much color from the red skins, we drained some off some to ferment in barrels. When barrel fermentation was completed, we added a small amount of a Syrah-Muscat field blend to nicely accentuate the strawberry and pear aromas and flavors in the wine.
Along with barrel fermentation, the wine spent five months in a combination of French, American, and Hungarian oak to add a layer of complexity to the wine. The result is this unique and delicious Alegría rosato that showcases both the skills of our consulting winemaker, Alison Green Doran, and the versatility of our wonderful grapes.
